No boiling. No $500 dentist. No hockey puck in your mouth. Nick takes his R3 straight out of the case.
"Best mouth guard ever. Great for sleeping, bruxism."
"Amazing, no more neck pain when I wake up."
The problem. Waking up with a headache and sore molars, a stiff jaw from clenching, and a wife who hears the snoring. "Like Mike Tyson uppercut you in the middle of the night."
What he tried. The $15 boil-and-bite from the sporting goods aisle. "You boil them, then you burn your gums, then you feel like you're choking on a hockey puck."
The switch. The R3. Direct fit, medical food-grade silicone, extra airway holes. "You pull it out of the case, you put it in your mouth and you go to sleep."
His routine. Rinse with warm water in the morning, back in the case with a splash of mouthwash. His experience, not a promise.

How most guys deal with grinding
Nick runs through the same three choices in almost every clip.
- Option 1
The $15 boil-and-bite
Boil it, burn your gums, then spit it out halfway through the night. "We choke on it for two hours a night and end up right back where we started."
- Option 2
The $500 dentist guard
Appointments, a wait, and a bill that starts around $500. "You do not need a dentist to write up anything to get you one of these."
- Option 3
The R3, ¥12,900
Direct fit, out of the case and into your mouth. "Zero boiling required."
The R3, the guard Nick sleeps in
Worn while you sleep
Overnight, plus a few daytime hours if you want to move faster. No routine to learn.
Slim, with airway holes
A low-profile, flat-plane guard with extra holes, so you can still breathe and even talk with it in.
Ready out of the case
Premium flat silicone, food-grade tested. Ready out of the box, nothing to prepare. Backed by a 1-year warranty.
Why Nick is keeping his
The reasons he comes back to in every clip. His experience, not a promise.
Waking up rested
No more mornings that feel like a fight. "Wake up feeling like a human after a proper eight hours of sleep."
A relaxed jaw
Something soft between his teeth instead of grinding all night. "It's going to release the tension on the back of your jaw."
Quieter nights
He's a self-confessed loud snorer. The airway holes and nose breathing are why he says his wife has stopped elbowing him.
Three steps. All of them easy.
Take it out of the box and wash it
Wear it to sleep and 2–3 hours during the day
Wash it and let it dry
Confused about size? Measure your width.
One measurement decides it: the width across your back molars.

Width · molar to molar
| Size | Width, molar to molar |
|---|---|
| Medium | 50 to 62 mm |
| Large | 63 to 72.4 mm |
| XL | 72.5 mm or more |
Tips: use a crisp, firm apple, make sure your teeth are clean and dry, press down evenly, and measure carefully in millimetres. No apple? Cut a piece of cardboard to the shape of your upper arch, or measure the width of a current retainer.
Need help on how to measure?
Watch how to measure your palate size with the simple bite-and-bread method:
Consistency is the whole game
- Weeks 1-2: the adjustment phase. A little soreness or extra saliva is normal, your soft tissue is adapting, not a sign anything's wrong.
- Build up gradually: shorter daytime sessions first, then overnights. Ease off for a bit if it ever gets sharp.
- After a couple of nights: Nick says "it's going to feel like it's not even there." The first nights feel new, then it becomes part of going to bed. What he describes is his own experience, not a promise.
What people say about the R3
Questions, answered
How should I start? ›
Wearing it: the standard pattern is overnight plus 2 to 3 hours during the day. Build up gradually with shorter daytime intervals first. The early phase is the hardest and gets much easier after a few weeks.
Early discomfort: sore teeth, achy gums and extra saliva in the first weeks are the soft tissue adjusting, not a problem. Take breaks if it gets sharp, don't push through pain.
Faster results: consistency first, then simple stretches like Bite and Hold alongside the guard.
How does sizing work? ›
Width matters most. Measure the outer edges of your upper molars at their widest point, shown in this size guide.
Medium fits a width of 50 to 62 mm, Large fits 63 to 72.4 mm, and XL is for 72.5 mm or more.
Why does it work? ›
Think of the soft tissue over the skull like a balloon. Grinding your teeth down deflates it over time, what we tend to call "aging." Adding height back with gentle, consistent pressure runs the same physics in reverse.
How many people have done this? ›
Over 30,000 people have started using Reviv appliances and this method.
What is it made of, and what's included? ›
