You're wearing this through your whole day. It needs to fit perfectly.
You're talking, training, commuting, going about your day life — RD1 needs to move with you, not against you. That only happens when it's molded specifically to your mouth. Not a generic average. Yours.
A good fit means it stays in place, feels natural, and you forget it's even there. A poor fit means you'll take it out and stop wearing it altogether.
Because your bite subtly shifts as your jaw improves over time, we recommend remolding once a week. It takes 10 minutes and keeps RD1 tracking your progress the whole way through.
6 Simple Steps. Perfect Fit.
The boil-and-bite process takes under 10 minutes.
Here's exactly how to do it right.
01
Boil Water
Bring a pot of water to a full boil on the stove or kettle. You need it at maximum temperature for the mold to set correctly.
02
Soak for 60 Seconds
Submerge the RD1 in the boiling water for exactly 60 seconds. This softens it evenly so it can mold precisely to your teeth.
03
Cool Briefly — 3 to 5 Seconds
Using a slotted spoon, remove the guard and dip it in cold water for just 3–5 seconds. Enough to handle it safely without losing its softness.

Place and Bite Down
Stand in front of a mirror. Place RD1 on your lower teeth, centered in the bite channel. Gently bite down and press your fingers along the side walls to shape it around your teeth.

Hold for 5 Minutes
Keep the guard in your mouth for at least 5 minutes without moving it. This gives the material enough time to take the exact shape of your bite.

Set in Cold Water
Place the molded guard back in cold water for 5 minutes to lock in the shape. Once done — it's ready to wear.
Remold Once a Week.
RD1 is designed for regular remolding — once per week is what we recommend.
Why? Because your bite subtly shifts as your structure improves over time. Weekly remolding ensures RD1 keeps up with your progress and continues to fit perfectly — so it never stops doing its job.
If it ever feels loose, tight, or uncomfortable before the week is up — remold it. Your comfort is your signal.

Great day time guard with good protection but not too much making it easy to use during day
Sometimes I do take it out to talk at times but still great to use. Use it to workout too

People will be able to tell something's in your mouth. Don't wear this at work. Someone claimed you can talk while wearing this. No you'll sound stupid if you do that. I'm thinking a mouthguard that fits snugly on the upper teeth that adds vertical height and unlocks occlusion may work. At the end of the day I want a mouthguard I can be social while wearing

I would argue this mouthguard is a must have. When you wear it during the day it prevents you from locking your bite, or grinding. You can talk in it, but i take it out for conversations- its too much for to much talking. Also.. dont wrap it in a napkin.. you might accidentally toss it in the trash.. and it cant help you there!

I enjoy usng the RD1 during the day, though I alternate it with the R2 even in the day time, as it has a softer feel. The RD1 helps keep things from regressing too much during the day. I find much relaxation in my neck and shoulders and upperback and I clench a lot less since using Reviv mouthguards in general. I did have to modify the RD1 slightly by clipping off two pieces in the front of the guard that were uncomfortable.

What’s the most popular size to purchase? I’m not sure which size to pick?
Note that the RD1 only comes in one size but the entire bottom is moldable so its pretty flexible sizewise.
In general most women are a size medium and men to be around 50-50 between medium and large.
The best way to know your size is the bread test: bite into a piece of bread, then measure the resulting bite mark at its widest point, outer edge to outer edge of your molars. That's demonstrated in our R1 sizing video here: https://youtu.be/pUDMltQ84MI

Are the daytime ones one size?

Yes. The RD1 comes in one size. It fits most mouths because the entire bottom part is fully moldable through the boil-and-mold process, so it adjusts to your mouth rather than needing multiple sizes.

Hello! I am looking for a day guard due to my front teeth hitting against each other when I talk. Will your daytime guard work for that? Thanks.
Hi Margaret,
The RD1 (our daytime guard) is a boil-and-mold guard with a moldable bottom and flat top, designed to be worn during the day for things like work or light activity. And yes it should be able to keep the front teeth from hitting against each other when talking but you might have a little bit of a lisp early on.

Is this a single size? And moulding is the best result?
Yes — the RD1 comes in a single size. It's a one-size-fits-all design because the entire bottom is moldable when put in boiling water. So instead of size variations, you mold it to fit your specific bite.
It's designed to be remolded about once a week as the bite changes through the process.
