The idea. "Did you know the correct tongue posture could have you looking hotter, sleeping better and being in less pain?" A lot of what gets blamed on stress or bad sleep, she traces back to how your tongue and jaw sit overnight.

The warning signs. Snoring, mouth breathing, any kind of jaw tension. "These are all warning signs for you to start taking your tongue posture seriously."

The bigger connection. "Did you know that jaw tension, pelvic floor, and glute strength are all connected? Ladies, if you're struggling with one of them, you most likely are struggling actually with all three."

The simple part. The R3. Soft flat silicone, direct fit straight out of the case. No boiling, no moulding, no impressions and no lab. "I know it all sounds super complicated, but they make it super simple. You just wear this mouth guard in your sleep." Her take, not a promise.

The warning signs

Three signs she says to take seriously

If any of these sound like you, Makayla's advice is to look at your tongue posture and jaw position first.

💤

You snore

"Correct tongue posture while you sleep helps you with less snoring, better sleep and less disruption."

👄

You breathe through your mouth

An open mouth at night means the tongue isn't where it should be. Correct positioning helps you "get more oxygen into your brain while you sleep."

🦷

Jaw tension or TMJ pain

"If you're someone that struggles with any sort of jaw tension or pain, this will help relieve it."

Find your size

Confused about size? Measure your width.

One measurement decides it: the width across your back molars.

A fresh apple cut in half
1. Cut a fresh apple in half, across the middle.
Upper-teeth imprint pressed into the apple flesh Width · molar to molar
2. Press your upper teeth in firmly, then lift straight out.
3. Measure the width. From the outer edge of one back molar to the outer edge of the other, in millimetres.
4. Match your size. Compare your width to the chart below to pick Medium, Large or XL.
SizeWidth, molar to molar
Medium50 to 62 mm
Large63 to 72.4 mm
XL72.5 mm or more

Tips: use a crisp, firm apple, make sure your teeth are clean and dry, press down evenly, and measure carefully in millimetres. No apple? Cut a piece of cardboard to the shape of your upper arch, or measure the width of a current retainer.

What to expect

Consistency is the whole game

  • Weeks 1-2: the adjustment phase. A little soreness or extra saliva is normal, your soft tissue is adapting, not a sign anything's wrong.
  • Build up gradually: shorter daytime sessions first, then overnights. Ease off for a bit if it ever gets sharp.
  • Over the months: the changes Makayla talks about, less jaw tension, better sleep and a sharper jawline, come from wearing it every night, not from wearing it harder. What she describes is her own take, not a promise.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How should I start? ›

Wearing it: the standard pattern is overnight plus 2 to 3 hours during the day. Build up gradually with shorter daytime intervals first. The early phase is the hardest and gets much easier after a few weeks.

Early discomfort: sore teeth, achy gums and extra saliva in the first weeks are the soft tissue adjusting, not a problem. Take breaks if it gets sharp, don't push through pain.

Faster results: consistency first, then simple stretches like Bite and Hold alongside the guard.

How does sizing work? ›

Width matters most. Measure the outer edges of your upper molars at their widest point, shown in this size guide.

Medium fits a width of 50 to 62 mm, Large fits 63 to 72.4 mm, and XL is for 72.5 mm or more.

Why does it work? ›

Think of the soft tissue over the skull like a balloon. Grinding your teeth down deflates it over time, what we tend to call "aging." Adding height back with gentle, consistent pressure runs the same physics in reverse.

How many people have done this? ›

Over 30,000 people have started using Reviv appliances and this method.

What is it made of, and what's included? ›

Premium soft silicone, food-grade tested. Your order is the R3 in your chosen size and colour, with its storage case and instructions, backed by a 1-year warranty.
